RPI Increases

In July each year, we review our mobile, broadband and landline prices and increase them by an amount up to the rate of the Isle of Man Retail Price Index (RPI). RPI is a measure of the change in prices for consumers on average across the Island over the last 12 months. It is set by the Isle of Man Government and is published on a monthly basis. We use the Government’s March RPI calculation to inform our July price changes.

We’ll let you know before we make any changes to the price of your services. If we increase your price by more than the Government’s March RPI calculation, we will let you end your service without being charged for leaving early (see our FAQs below).

We appreciate that it's never great to get a price rise. We do our best to make cost savings so that our customers are not impacted by our rising costs.  However, these price rises are enabling us to continue investing in our network and developing our products so that you get good value for money, including:

  • Offering unlimited broadband usage as standard
  • Continuing investment into our broadband network
  • Continued investment within Isle of Man’s fastest mobile network

Frequently asked questions about RPI:

Why are you increasing prices?

Once a year (usually in July), we will review the price you pay for your services and will increase them by an amount up to the Isle of Man RPI for March of that year. RPI is a measure of the change in prices for consumers on average across the Island over the last 12 months, but it also reflects the increase in the costs to run and invest in the network and service we provide. Each year, we will do our best to make cost savings so that our customers are not impacted by our rising costs, but sometimes it is necessary for us to put our prices up.

What will the increase of my plan be?

We can’t predict what RPI in the Isle of Man will be in the future. When making an annual price change, we will use the RPI value published by the Isle of Man Government in March of that year. Once this value is known, we will increase the price that you pay for your service(s) by an amount up to that value.

For example, the RPI figure published by the Isle of Man Government in March 2022 was 7.3%. If your monthly rental charge was £22 a month, then your new monthly rental after an increase of this figure would be £23.61. (i.e £22 x 1.073 = £23.61). Any RPI increase the following year would be calculated from your new monthly rental charge.

Please note that future Isle of Man RPI figures may increase or decrease. If the RPI figure is negative in the relevant year, then we will not make any change to the price of your service.

How will the increase appear on my bill?

We’ll let you know before we make any changes to the price of your services. We will do this by sending you an email or a letter, and by including information on your June and July monthly bills.

Can I cancel my contract?

We really value you as a customer and would be sorry to see you go, but if you want to leave any or all of your contracts with us, you can.

Our T&Cs allow us to make price increases every year up to the level of RPI in the Isle of Man. If we have increased the price(s) that you pay by an amount at or below RPI, and we have given you sufficient notice, then you may be subject to early termination fees if you leave before the end of your minimum term.

If, however, we have made a price increase above the level of RPI for that year, or we have not given you enough notice of the price increase, then have the right to leave your contract(s) with Sure without penalty (although you will need to pay the outstanding balance on any equipment or handsets that you have purchased from us). We will let you know when you are able to do this. Please note, if you wish to leave your contracts with us without penalty, you will need to tell us within 30 days of receiving the notification.
