Using your phone abroad, whether for social media, streaming, or keeping in touch, can sometimes lead to unexpected roaming charges. By following these steps before you head off, you can enjoy your trip while staying in control of your spending.
3 Steps to Prepare Before You Travel
Check Your Allowances: See if your current plan includes roaming data. You can find this in your MySure account under "Service Details" or by speaking to our team on 247247.
Verify Your Limits: Review your roaming allocation in the "Manage Spending Limits" section of your MySure account to ensure it covers your needs.
Boost Your Data: If you need extra data, add a Roaming Data Booster. These are available from just £5 for 2GB and can be added in three easy steps via MySure or our website.
Understanding Your Plan
Pay Monthly: Your Roaming Spend Limits are set to £50 for calls/texts and £50 for data by default. We can adjust these limits for you if you'd like more or less flexibility.
Pay As You Go: Ensure you have enough credit topped up before you travel. Our Pay As You Go plans include roaming benefits when you top up from £10.
Top Tips to Manage Data Usage
To avoid high bills, follow these simple device settings:
Turn off Mobile Data: Disable mobile data in your settings when not in use to stop apps from updating in the background.
Use Wi-Fi: Connect to local Wi-Fi whenever possible, but check if there are any access fees.
Adjust Settings: Turn off "Location Services," "Background App Refresh," and "Wi-Fi Assist," as these can consume data even when you aren't actively using your phone.
Check Your Calls: Be aware that calling 0800 numbers or accessing your voicemail while abroad may incur standard roaming call charges. You may wish to turn your voicemail off before you leave.
