Ofcom, the UK telecommunications regulator, has removed the requirement for major UK providers (such as BT and KCom) to maintain support for fax services.
While Sure is not directly subject to this regulation, this change across the wider UK telecoms industry affects how we can support fax calls that travel beyond our network.
What does this mean for you?
You can continue to send and receive faxes, but please be aware of the following changes to our support:
Internal Sure Network: We will continue to use our best efforts to support fax services between endpoints that remain entirely within the Sure network.
External/UK Calls: If you experience issues when sending or receiving faxes to or from the UK or other international destinations, our ability to investigate and resolve these issues may be limited. Because other providers are no longer obligated to maintain their fax infrastructure, we may be unable to provide the same level of troubleshooting support we have offered in the past.
Recommended Alternatives
As fax technology is increasingly being phased out across the industry, we encourage customers to consider more modern, reliable, and secure methods of document transmission. Many of our customers have successfully transitioned to:
Scanning and Emailing: The most common alternative for sharing signed documents and images.
Secure Document Portals: Many online services now offer encrypted portals for transferring sensitive documents.
