Some applications run in the background, which can consume your data allowance without you realising it and drain your battery. Use the instructions below to manage these settings.

How to Close Active Apps
Closing apps prevents them from running in the background and using your resources.
Apple (iPhone/iPad)
View Open Apps: Double-click the Home button (or swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the centre on newer models).
Find the App: Swipe left or right to find the app you want to close.
Close: Swipe up on the app's preview card to close it.
Samsung & Android Devices
View Open Apps: Tap the Recent Apps button (usually represented by three vertical lines or a square icon at the bottom of your screen).
Find the App: Swipe left or right to find the app you want to close.
Close: Swipe up on the app's preview card to close it.
Tip: You can also tap "Close All" at the bottom of the screen to clear all background apps at once.
How to Restrict Background Data
This prevents apps from syncing or updating using your mobile data when you aren't actively using them.
Samsung & Android Devices
Open Settings.
Select Connections.
Tap Data Usage.
You will see an option for Background Data.
To restrict all apps: Toggle the main Background Data switch to Off.
To restrict specific apps: Tap on the individual app from the list and toggle the background data switch to Off for that app only.
Apple (iPhone/iPad)
Open Settings.
Select General.
Select Background App Refresh.
Tap Background App Refresh at the top of the panel.
Choose your preferred option:
Off: Completely blocks apps from updating in the background.
Wi-Fi: Allows apps to refresh ONLY when connected to Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi & Mobile Data: Allows background refreshing on any internet connection.
